Law Firm Broker Arb
Evaluate scope, responsibility, and communication before an engagement.
Ask what work is being proposed
A firm may be offering to screen a matter, provide a limited consultation, negotiate, or undertake a defined proceeding. Request a clear explanation of scope and exclusions. Ask who will be responsible for urgent dates during any review and how a decision to accept or decline will be communicated.
Keep the firm’s identity, the responsible lawyer, and the jurisdiction relevant to the engagement clear. Verify professional status through the appropriate official licensing body rather than relying only on website language. This publication does not maintain a vetted lawyer directory or claim that any particular firm is available.
Review costs alongside the scope
ABA Model Rule 1.5 is one reference for questions about fees and expenses; the governing local rules and agreement require their own review. Ask how charges are calculated, which stages are included, and how expenses are explained.
The No Fee Broker Arb page separates a free initial conversation from the terms of an engagement. A proposed fee method should be understood without a predicted settlement being used to make the terms appear more attractive.
Make referrals and client contact accountable
For an inter-firm introduction, identify the purpose, what may be shared, the method of transfer, and the current status of acceptance. The law-firm handoff article describes a practical record of consent, scope, and communication.
Translate premium service language into concrete questions: a named contact, an agreed route for urgent messages, understandable updates, and a process for accessibility needs. The White Glove Broker Arb guide is a service-evaluation framework, not an offer. BrokerArb.com neither represents clients nor arranges paid referrals. Do not send confidential files to its editorial contact address or assume that an inquiry creates a professional relationship.
